Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mission Statement
At Little K Books, we wholeheartedly embrace the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion as the cornerstone of our organisational ethos. Our commitment to DEI is rooted in the belief that every individual, regardless of their background, identity, or experience, deserves to be treated with respect, fairness, and the opportunity to thrive. We recognise that a diverse and inclusive environment fosters creativity, innovation, and a richer tapestry of perspectives, enabling us to better serve our community of authors, readers, and partners.
Our Mission:
1. Diversity: We celebrate the unique qualities that make each person who they are. We strive to create an environment that embraces a wide spectrum of backgrounds, cultures, races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and viewpoints. We actively seek out diverse voices and stories that reflect the richness of human experience.
2. Equity: We are committed to fairness and justice in all our endeavours. We work to eliminate systemic barriers that may hinder anyone from fully participating and achieving their potential within our organisation. We dedicate ourselves to providing equal opportunities for growth, development, and success to all members of our team.
3. Inclusion: We cultivate an inclusive community where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered. We actively promote an atmosphere of belonging, where open dialogue and collaboration are encouraged. We aim to foster an environment where different perspectives are not only respected but actively sought out and considered.
4. Education: We understand that achieving true DEI requires continuous learning and reflection. We aim to invest in education and training to raise awareness, challenge biases, and foster empathy. By cultivating a culture of learning, we strive to create a workplace that champions self-improvement and mutual understanding.
5. Accountability: We hold ourselves accountable to the principles of DEI. We regularly assess our practices, policies, and actions to ensure they align with our mission. We actively seek feedback from our community and make transparent efforts to address concerns and make improvements.
6. Community Impact: We extend our commitment to DEI beyond our internal operations. We aim to amplify underrepresented voices in literature and contribute positively to the broader community. Through our publications, collaborations, and outreach initiatives, we strive to promote understanding, acceptance, and positive change.
As we move forward on our journey to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, we acknowledge that this mission is ongoing and requires the dedication of each individual within our organisation. Our DEI mission is not just a statement but a lived experience, guiding us in every aspect of our work and interactions.
